Fair tattoo

I did my usual pilgrimage to the BIG Kern County Fair with Jan on Monday night.
We did our usual:
Enter.
Get beer.
Get corn dog from De Molay.
Get beer.
Get palms read.
Get beer.
Get tattoos.
Get beer and Mexican food.
Get handwriting analyzed.
Get beer.
Go through goofy exhibit hall.
Leave before falling down.
Fun times!

I usually get a spider tat, but this time, I went alma mater and got the bull dog. I like him!

Sunday run

I did 8.17 miles, average pace 9 minute miles. It was hard!

This sunday, I have to add 2 miles. Then 2 more the next Sunday and 2 more the next so I can come anywhere near being able to do that 1/2 marathon on Nov. 1!These were my two pace dogs. Jo had to stay home. She had a sore knee from the run in the hills the day before.

Lost dog found again!

So my latest foundling went home a little bit ago.

I put up posters in the neighborhood and got a call when the family got home from the fair where the boys were showing goats.

Sunny is the dog's name and they just got him from the pound last week. They were ECSTATIC to get him back. So this story had a happy ending!

FOUND DOG!

I can't believe what a magnet I am for lost dogs.

On Wednesday night, I got home and the dogs went out with me to get the mail and when I came in, I had one extra. A little Boston Terrier mix with no collar, of course.

He was very very sweet but Smokey wanted to kill him. So I walked around the neighborhood and finally found where he belonged. And that lady had taken him in from a friend who found him as a stray. But they eventually found his real owners.

Then this morning on my way to a run, I found this little guy. Super sweet, well mannered, and recently fixed. Collar but no tags. I walked all over the neighborhood and several people had seen him wandering for the last few days, but no one knew where he lived. So I'm stuck with him until I can find his place. I just have to keep Smokey away from him!

The front room and a painting

Here's the front room.
We finally got some barstools. But not much else in the way of furniture yet.
We still haven't done the gas insert. So I covered up the fireplace hole with a rug, but otherwise things are done in here.

And this is a painting I have on "try out." I love it! But it is expensive.

This is Cottonwood Road (which I've been down many times). The artist is Keith Wicks, who grew up here and now lives in Sonoma County. He does a lot of different stuff, but I like his landscape impressionist stuff best.

Anniversary party

We went to an anniversary party for a friend's parents last night...60 years! They ran off together in their 20s and apparently, it took!

Congrats!
Here they are, Jules and Virginia, in front of their very cool and yummy cake.
And this is Barb (their daughter) and Al, who hosted the party. There'll be wedding cake soon for Barb and Al, too!
