BACK to the cabin this weekend...sheesh

The heater still wasn't working so I took some portables up there and tried to see if I could jimmy the regular heater...no dice. but it wasn't as cold.

Here are some shots from the Sunday morning run.

From the back of Pinecrest Lake.Fall colors.
The river.

And here's a shot from earlier in the week when I took Jo and the littles on a 10 mile run one morning by the river.

Speed racers!

It was Steve's birthday recently. What do you get a guy from Taft for his 29th-ish birthday?

Go Kart racing, of course!

Safety first.
Here's the line up on the pole.
And they're off!

Here's Larry coming across the finish line. Clearly the camera phone was not up to this super fast action.

More from the cold cabin trip

This was a long run, 8 miles. It was so cold, I was in tights, long sleeve shirt, vest, ear mufflers, and mittens and I was RUNNING...and it was still cold.

This is me, running...well, trotting kind of.What kind of freaky rock art is this???

My friend Doris and I used to take long walks by the river and I told her one time that the brushy reeds like the ones on this rock reminded me of the head of those Chinese dragons they have in parades. They still do.

Here we are on the other side of the river. This is an easier grade, though it's all uphill for 4 miles. It used to be the old rail line.

The doggies like to look down on me when they get to the top of a hill first, just to let me know they can!
And here's the GPSer at the end!

The new baby Garcia

Here he is, FINALLY! Baby Cruz!

Chilly cabin trip

I went up to the cabin...I know, AGAIN, with mom Oct. 10/11 and we raked up pine needles and did some other work.

It was COLD COLD COLD! Into the high 20s at night. So, of course, the heater conked out, which we're still working on getting fixed.

I wore this coat the entire time we were working and I was STILL chilly! Luckily I had the doggies to keep me warm. Or they had me, not sure which.

And here are the piles!

The doggies were so cold, they camped out by the fire whenever we were inside. Fire hogs.
I only brought the two littles because I needed to get some longer runs in and Jo's leg is bothering her. Despite the cold, it was really beautiful up there!

On our last night, we went up to Kennedy Meadows to have dinner, it was their last dinner before closing up for the winter, so it was super crowded and we could only get a table OUTSIDE. But Raymond brought propane heaters so it was tolerable.
