I missed most of Saturday's party...

The gang went to Luigi's, then Ethels and I caught up with what was left at Mexicali's after I got off work.

I can't say much more about the evening, nor post my very funny photos (at the request — direct orders! — of one of the participants).

But the long and short of it was I met up with the last of the group at Mexi about 6 p.m. and was home by 7:30 p.m.

Big night out in Bako...woo hoo!

Another Friday night in Bako land

We started at teh gallery. Then Robin and I went to Mama Roomba for food and, apparently, to save seats for everyone else who showed up later.

Eddie tries to convince Wiz of some interesting factoid.

Uh oh! Henry F-ing Marquez showed up and Robin abandonned me in a New York second!
I'm sure whoever stuck their big fat middle finger in this picture didn't MEAN to make it look like it was going up Don's nose. OK maybe they meant it...it's kind of a funny picture either way...

It's a hemi!

I like several things about this car.

1. The intense greeness

2. It's a bad ass charger

3. It's being driven by a dude or chick w/a disabled placard.

Right on. I mean, who more than a disabled person needs to get their vroom vroom on?

Blog template

I changed the template on the blog just to mix it up a little. Not sure if I like it...we'll see!

President Obama...wow

I don't know what to say. I'm shocked. I hoped it would happen, but I never really REALLY thought it would. (After 8 years of Bush, I just don't have a lot of faith in my fellow Americans!)

I remember MLK's assasination. I was 4 years old. My parents were sobbing in front of the television. I told them I knew who did it. It was Mr. Woolley, our landlord!

I suppose my parents must have talked about what an evil bastard he was for charging us too much rent and not fixing stuff etc., etc, so in my little mind that meant he also must have killed a significant American/world leader for civil rights!

Anyway, it's a long, long way from those bad old days and it's amazing to think it would happen in my lifetime.

Santa Barbara race

I went to Santa Barbara this weekend to do a 1/2 marathon (13.1 miles) that my "alleged" friend Don talked me into doing. Don had a great time like 1.49. mine was less impressive at 2.03!

Here it was on the morning of the race, early and WET. But not cold. Most of the shots I took DURING the race w/my phone didn't turn out. It was the day after Halloween so several people were in costume, including the winner who was wearing a Barney Rubble smock shirt and apparently nothing else!

This "superman" dude was running w/a partner who also had a cape, but I couldn't get them both in the shot and I was too tired to keep shooting them. I think this was mile 9ish...

Ah, a lovely view of the harbor. Too bad I was about to DIE at this point (11.5 miles).

Later that day...here we are, Jason on the far right, Don, center and Gail far left, at Carlitos. I was tired and my legs hurt, but I found my old friend BEER at Carlitos and felt better in NO TIME!

Lauren and Robin chat at Carlitos.

Gail is shy...at least I think that's Gail under the napkin.

So, Santa Barbara isn't perfect...we found grafitti!!!

And then the sun went down while we're on the wharf.

Still going.......
And pretty much gone ....

Sunday morning. I had gone home early Saturday night but the rest of them stayed out late the rascals! So I was up early and out and about. Got these shots from the end of the wharf.

Look at THIS fellow!

He's keeping watch over his city.
Pelicans skimming the water...very cool to watch.
Finally! the Crew is up for breakfast...wait, how much did we spend last night??

Texting at breakfast...it's the new craze!
